Best of breed approach

Active asset management requires highly specialised skills, deep insight and significant experience. Truly skilled investment managers are very rare and we believe that no single firm possesses the necessary mixture of skill and experience across all asset classes.

At Ingenious, we rely on division of labour: we focus our skill on the setting and ongoing structuring of a portfolio in order to maximise returns for a specified risk of loss. To do so, we rely on the combined experience and insight of our team and our proprietary asset allocation tool, Efficient Frontier^ө.

But we use external investment managers with market-beating track records and our preferred Exchange Traded Funds to implement the strategies we have developed.

Stock selection

We predominantly invest in collectives. These include Unit Trusts, Exchange Traded Funds, Open Ended Investment Companies, Hedge Funds, Investment Trusts and Structured Products. We firmly believe this approach delivers better returns for our clients because:

• collectives provide excellent risk-adjusted returns and substantially reduce stock specific risk;
• they provide access to highly talented fund managers;
• these managers can trade their stocks freely without incurring capital gains tax; and
• collectives can provide access to asset classes we could not otherwise invest in (e.g. property and commodities).
